At the Detroit auto show in January, Mercedes went to great lengths to tout the return of a 4-cylinder engine to the C-Class. Meanwhile, deep in the Stuttgart skunk works, engineers for the C63 AMG Coupe’s 6.2-liter V-8 toiled away with beeswax in their ears.
The C-Class coupe, which was first shown at the Geneva auto show in March, is notable for its sophisticated, svelte beltline. To this, the C63 AMG adds flashes of brawn, primarily through aggressive ground effects, quad exhaust pipes and larger wheels.

Built by 150 trainees, the car combines traditional design features with the latest technology.
So while it has large spoked wheels that hark back to the first Benz Motor Car of 1886, it is powered by a hybrid drive system using an emission-free fuel cell.
